When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions there are the basic “I’m gonna eat healthy” or “I’m going to work out more.” but these usually only last a few days before going back to old habits. These obviously would change one’s life an awful lot but that’s only if they are stuck to. Starting small with something you know you can achieve is a good place to start and grow from there. Also many people also start with a resolution that isn’t fitness related and actually see themselves as more successful because of it.
According to a research group Statistic Brain Research Institute, out of 40% who set new years resolutions only 9% actually succeeded. One way to be a part of that 9% is take a small step and keeping taking those steps until a greater goal is met. This first step could be eating 2 vegetables per day or even just walking more.
There are many other resolutions that don’t involve fitness but will improve a different aspect of your overall health. It could be anywhere from stop procrastinating to improve work habits or pay it forward every once in a while to make you feel like a better person. These types of resolutions may not give you a better physical appearance but they will make you and those around you happy.
Now you may still be thinking that these could be hard to keep or hard to remember but there are tips to help you.
One tip is to reward yourself. In an article by Fox News, it is said rewarding yourself will help you in the long run because it helps you focus on small behaviors rather than a big outcome that may take a while to achieve.
Another tip from Fox News is to have someone to hold you accountable. Not only can you push each other but you will also have someone to share struggles with that will help you conquer voices in your head telling you to stop.
These tips may seem obvious to some but people don’t understand how important they are in success.
All in all, the beginning of the year can be a stressful time especially when you have a New Year’s resolution that you plan on keeping. But with these couple tips and much more on the internet they are definitely achievable.
