“It’s cold. The roads are dangerous. Everyone is pale. School workload is heavy. It’s freezing. There’s nothing to do”…

Winter after winter, I continue to hear this over and over again. This was me and sometimes still is, until I realized that we live in Iowa and there is nothing that I can do about that right now. So I might as well make the most of it.

I highly recommend at least trying winter sports. Skiing or snowboarding. I have tried both and stuck with snowboarding. We still don’t necessarily of Colorado mountains, however we do have ski resorts in iowa or near us. No excuses for not even trying! Get a group of friends and head up to Sundown for the weekend or even just the day. Pick up that hobby.

Ice skating is another winter hobby that lot’s of people overlook. Go to the mall or if you know of an outdoor rink, go! Again go with a group of friends or family rent some skates and try it out.

Bake or make some hot chocolate! Everyone loves to bake, pinterest a good recipe and make something. Not only is it something fun to do, but then you have leftovers to snack on all winter. Add some hot chocolate and it’s perfect after coming inside from the freezing cold.

Something that I personally need to do more is reading, this is something to keep you occupied when you are stuck inside from a winter blizzard. Take a Sunday to go to Barnes and Noble and pick up a couple books. Head back home put on some fuzzy socks and cuddle up with a good book.

If you like sports, go to an Iowa basketball game. Or even if you don’t like sports, go anyways because the icecream cones are life changing.

Movie marathons are a winter necessity. You can never go wrong with your favorite movies or binge watching your favorite show on Netflix.

Now, stop complaining about it being cold and saying that there is nothing to do in the winter, because your wrong. You have now read this and it should have inspired you to go participate in some festive activities.
