The prairie hawks wrestling season is in its first stages of competition. Every weekend traveling to a new location to battle and compete for first. The hawks are undefeated at home so far this season but have lost a few away and at dual tournaments. We are making progress everyday in the room pushing each other to the limit.
For my interview I chose senior Trenten Wennermark for some of the things he wants to see and the goals he has for himself and the team throughout the 2017 and 2018 wrestling season.
“What are some goals that you have for yourself and as a team being a team captain?”
Trenten replied, “Some goals I have for myself is to be successful as I can be and go for that gold, and same with the team.”
I than asked Trenten how he felt about the atmosphere of the wrestling room. “The energy in the room is positive I feel because of the upperclassmen, we have to help make it that way by getting everyone involved.
Another thing I asked was “What are some of your favorite things about prairie wrestling and do you wish there was anything different?” “I really like how as a team we can joke around then get serious when it comes time to wrestle.” It is great to be around these guys joking around and during competition.
The last thing I decided to ask Trenten was “What is one of your favorite moments from all four years of high school wrestling?” Trenten responded with this, “Getting to spend time with the team that’s like my second family.
Trenten has been wrestling for 15 years now and as a senior he hopes to capture the gold in his last go around and hopefully his team too. Wrestling with him and others to improve himself and mine has been a blessing.
This will be the last year for many seniors and we all wish them luck in their last few months of high school wrestling. Trenten is currently planning on trying to help coach little kids after high school possibly attending college or just getting a job.
