What’s worse school food or prison food? Well, honestly I bet it’s a close tie. Students complain about school food almost every day, we look at the school lunch calendar and hope the lunch is going to be good, sadly, it never is.
As a student at Prairie High School, I hope the school’s lunch gets better, for the sake of students health. The lunch has gotten worse as years pass. In elementary school, as much as I can remember it wasn’t bad, it filled our small tummy’s and kept us happy the rest of the day. Oh yeah and I can’t forget about the snack everyday. When we moved to Prairie Creek, the breakfast was bomb, there was funnel cake with powdered sugar for breakfast, waffles, and cinnamon rolls.
Personally, I believe Prairie Point had the best lunch food. The lunch lines were pretty quick, so we had more time to eat. For people who didn’t like the main lunch they were serving, there was a “Salad bar” line which had healthy options. There was different types of salads, vegetables, and all the fruits you could think of. Quite a few people miss the “Salad bar” from Point, and wish we had something like that at the high school. The main meals at Prairie Point were pretty good, every Tuesday we had pizza hut pizza, which everyone always got excited about. Point’s quesadillas were the best thing on the menu and pizza was on the menu basically every day.
Now, the high school’s lunch is a little different. Lots of students have learned their lesson and brought their own lunch to school, because well, school lunch is just bad. Everything has turned into wheat, wheat french toast sticks, wheat pizza, wheat bread, wheat noodles, literally anything you can think of is wheat. I understand that we need to have that because it’s “healthy” but do we really? Just let us eat unhealthy. Students are thankful for the extra drink and snack selection though, that doesn’t make the lunch as bad.
To make school lunch better, let’s bring back pizza hut every Tuesday, ditch the wheat, and make the main meals better. We want different stuff than chicken sandwiches every day, like new food to switch things up a bit.
