April 2nd marked opening day for Major League Baseball. For fans who’s teams made the playoffs or didn’t, it had been too long. The first game of the day was the New York Yankees at the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays put up 3 early runs to start the game and continue to score as they won 7-3. The next game was the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Madison Bumgarner, the starting pitcher for the Giants hit 2 homeruns but that was not enough as the Diamondbacks Chris Owing hit a walk-off homerun to win the game 6-5. Last but not least, the Chicago Cubs faced off against their rival the St. Louis Cardinals. The Chicago Cubs were trying to prove themselves coming off a World Championship but the Cardinals were too much for them winning 4-3.
