As the flood of 2016 is finished in Cedar Rapids there is still flooding going on in Cedar Falls, where the water got up to seven feet high in some parts.
Efforts in Cedar rapids were strong as the community came together and prepared the calm of the storm, as people for hours straight, made sandbags for people that were going to be effected.
Resident Laurie Youngblood says, “It’s gone down a lot, you know it was covering the road until last week, so it’s improved quite a bit. It’s just the smell and stench of you know your environment.”
When flooding happens the northern part of Cedar Falls gets it hard, when the flood began everything was covered, but has came down quiet a bit since then, but there is still flooding happening within.
As Cedar Rapids is cleaning up, everyone is proud of the amount of effort the city and citizens put into preparing the flood of 2016, and that it didn’t even like the flood of 2008.
