The breakout success of Prairie athletics has been a welcomed surprise in the district and in the metro area. With state championships in multiple sports the past year, athletes wearing orange and black have been at the top of the leader board, and people have noticed.
In the past month, two of Prairie’s elite athletes have been featured in the local Gazette for their accomplishments. Joe Meyer, 17’, was featured for his success on the Prairie Football team, which may be the biggest surprise in 4A football this year. After having a very minimal role in Prairie’s offense last year at split end, he has emerged as a big threat and an essential weapon at running back in 2016. Matt Lorenz, 17’, also grabbed some of the spotlight, with a feature story on his busy schedule as a 5-sport athlete, particularly playing golf and running cross-country at the same time.
These two athletes are the epitome of Prairie, and they’re being rewarded for doing what they love and being successful at it, while maintaining good grades, and being good people.
