A lot of things happened this year for sports. We’ve had a lot of ups and a lot of downs. We’ve had cheers and we’ve had tears. There are a lot of sports so I will talk about just the big 3, football, volleyball, and track.
Football is a loved sport, whether you play it or watch it. The football team went to the playoffs. However, they lost in the first round. A lot of tears were had because a lot of them knew that would be the last day of organized football, ever. As they reflected on it, they realized all the memories they had made with their friends and families.
Volleyball was a great sport for Prairie. They went all the way to the sub-state semifinals. However, they lost. Just like football, tears were shed and people were hurt. Then they realized that they had built a foundation for the next teams to live up to, and that’s all you can do.
Track had a lot of expectations this year, and they lived up to the hype. In the Drake relays, records were broken, and they had a lot of success. The track season isn’t over as they just left to state today. So if you want to know what happened ask around when they come home. All I know is, I have full faith they will do great and compete their hardest to win.
Football, volleyball, and track are the biggest sports in Prairie. They all have left their legacy, and have set the stage for the next teams to come. All sports are important and no matter what happens, you will always have good and bad memories. Just remember the times you shared with your friends and family, because in the end, that’s what matters.
